- Routing decision: Assigns a Tier 1/2/3 label and routes accordingly — Tier 1 leads trigger a Slack alert to a designated SDR within 60 seconds, Tier 2 enters a standard 24-hour queue, Tier 3 enters a long-nurture email sequence.
- Research brief generation: For Tier 1 and Tier 2 leads, the agent writes a 150-word research brief — company context, likely pain points, relevant case studies, suggested first-call angle — directly into the CRM contact record.

The SDR sees the AI draft, approves or edits it in under 30 seconds, and the email goes out with genuine personalization.

- Competitive context: Checks the internal competitive intelligence wiki for the products the prospect has mentioned (captured in Gong tags) and pulls the latest competitive battle card.
- Brief assembly: Compiles everything into a 400-500 word structured brief delivered to the AE via Slack and saved to the CRM record 90 minutes before the meeting.

The deal risk agent runs daily across the entire active pipeline in Salesforce. For each deal above a defined value threshold ($25,000), it evaluates:
- Engagement recency: Days since last inbound contact from the prospect (email reply, call, or meeting attendance). Flags anything over 10 days.
- Stage velocity: Expected vs. actual days in current stage based on historical deal data. Flags deals moving slower than the 75th percentile for that deal size.
- Stakeholder coverage: Maps contact activity against known decision-maker roles. Flags deals where champion contact is active but economic buyer hasn't been engaged in 21+ days.
- Sentiment analysis: Runs Gong call transcripts through a sentiment model, flagging calls where language shifted negatively in the last interaction ("need to check with legal", "budget is tight", "we're re-evaluating timelines").
- Risk score and alert: Generates a 0-100 risk score and a one-paragraph summary of why the deal is flagged, delivered each morning in the sales manager's Slack digest.
Tools used: Salesforce (pipeline data), Gong (call transcripts), OpenAI GPT-4o (risk scoring and summaries), Slack (daily digest delivery), custom Python service (orchestration).
Outcomes:
- At-risk deal identification moved from reactive (weekly review) to proactive (daily, 48-72 hours earlier)

- News and PR monitoring: Daily search for competitor press releases, fundraising announcements, new executive hires, and product launch announcements (via Exa and Tavily).
- Job posting analysis: Weekly scrape of competitor job postings, inferring product investment areas from engineering and product role descriptions.
- Intelligence brief generation: Synthesizes weekly findings into a structured Competitive Intelligence Brief posted to a dedicated Slack channel and saved to the Notion competitive wiki, with automatic battle card update suggestions.

What These Examples Have in Common#

They target the research and preparation layer. AI agents are most effective at gathering information, synthesizing it, and preparing it for human action. Every example above uses the agent to remove friction from a preparation task — research, enrichment, scoring, monitoring — rather than replacing the human judgment that follows.
They keep humans in the loop on high-stakes actions. Outbound emails are reviewed before sending. Forecast narratives are reviewed before distribution. Deal risk alerts go to managers who decide how to respond. The agent amplifies human capacity; it does not operate autonomously in high-consequence situations.
They use data that already exists. None of these deployments required a new data warehouse or CRM rebuild. They connect to systems the sales team was already using — Salesforce, Gong, HubSpot, Outreach — and make better use of data that was already being generated but not fully leveraged.
